- Volunteer Appreciation Picnic 2010 -

Thank you to everyone who was able to join our Annual Volunteer Picnic on Sunday, June 13th. Despite the heat, the annual AFAC Volunteer picnic on Sunday was a success.

There were plenty of goodies, great music as we were serenaded by the Members Only men's choral group from HB-Woodlawn and Ian Hassells on guitar.  Awards were made to:  The Emory University Alumni Association of D.C. (Volunteer Group of the Year), the Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network (Community Partner of the Year), the Smith Family - Don, Catherine, Stephanie and Caroline (Volunteer Family of the Year), and Melissa Kalner and Andrew Nuckols (Volunteers of the Year) and Joe Neives (Special Recognition). 

 
Thanks to Karen Barnes and Ken Bolen of the Garden Masters stand in Springfield for their donation of hundreds of vegetable seedlings which arrived just in time for distribution to volunteers attending the picnic last Sunday and were given to clients throughout the week.
